What Color Will My Flower Petal Beads Be?
There are two methods used for determining your bead color. Both methods result in beautiful flower petal beads. Regardless of the method you choose, small flower particles will be visible inside each bead. The two methods for determining bead color are:
- Pigments released from your dried flowers determine the bead color (may vary from original flower color in some flowers).
- Add color pigments to make the beads a specific color (match your original flowers or a favorite color).
Most dried flower petals release color pigments that are similar to the original flower color. However, this is not true for all flowers. An example of this is the very popular, red rose. Dried red roses release purple pigments. Below are photos showing a red rose and the resulting bead colors using the two different bead color options. The middle photo shows a purple bead. The coloring in this bead was totally determined by the pigments from the dried red rose. In the last photo, color pigments were added to create beads that matched the color of the original red rose.
What to expect if I choose to have my dried flowers determine the bead color:
What to expect if I choose to match my bead color to my original flower color:
- Your flower particles are slightly more visible.
- Red roses result in purple beads.
- Pink, peach, and yellow roses result in various shades of tan and yellow. Although this is sometimes not as colorful as the original flower color, it does make your jewelry more neutral for matching various clothing.
- White roses result in various shades of cream, beige, white or light tan.
- Your bead may have more visual depth to the bead.
What to expect if I choose to match my bead color to my original flower color:
- You flower particles are slightly less visible, more so in darker colors than lighter colors.
- Beads with beautiful colors that remind you of your original flower color or a favorite color.
Please select the method you would like used for your bead color on the Customize My Keepsake form. If you are not sure which method you would like, you can discuss it with us during the time your flowers are drying. Some people like us to use our judgement when designing their keepsakes. If you prefer us to decide, just select "Choose for Me" under the "Bead Color" option of the form.
